Natural Helper (Indianapolis)
Maryori, herself an immigrant, works with the Immigrant Welcome Center and through its Natural Helper program assists immigrants to get acclimated to their new homes. While some are born with musical aptitude, others with others architectural finesse or natural sporting talent, Maryorie believes she was born with the desire to be of service to others. Through her journey, see how we all can be a Natural Helper in our own way and help build a more welcoming community.
Maryori Duarte-Sheffield is Lead Education Specialist, Healthy Homes, Environmental Consumer Management and Senior Care at Marion County Public Health Department. Originally from Venezuela, she is a strong advocate for Central Indiana’s immigrant community and long-time volunteer for the Immigrant Welcome Center.
